THE 6TH ANNUAL AFRICAN AMERICAN HERITAGE FESTIVAL OFFERS NEW OPPORTUNIITES WITH INTERACTIVE CAREER VILLAGE

Baltimore, MD  The Sixth Annual African American Heritage Festival has partnered with One Economy, Monster.com, Aerotek and the Mayors Office of Employment Development to offer festival participants a venue to search for jobs and gain information about general career opportunities and current openings in Baltimore and the surrounding counties.


The Career Village will take place July 6-8, 2007 at M & T Bank Stadium Lot B presenting seminars on how to utilize Monster.com and One Economys Beehive program to connect people to user-friendly information and resources that matter most to them in areas of health, jobs, money, education and family.


LaRian Finney, African American Heritage Foundation Chairman, said, In addition to great music and food, the African American Heritage Festival is proud to offer the Career Village providing participants tangible programs and services to enhance their lives.


Clyde Edwards, One Economy, Program Officer & Community Liaison, said, We have developed 40 localized Beehives which provide area-specific information and resources.   Since the launch of the Beehive in 2001, the site has been visited over 10 million times by 9 million people, reaching hundreds of thousands of unique users per month.


The Beehive provides bilingual content at a literacy level that any audience can use and understand.  In addition to career training, the Village will distribute specialty information to various age groups including high school and college students about tutor programs, General Education Development (GED) and students needing childcare.


Attracting over 500,000 people five years in a row, the African American Heritage Festival has expanded between both Camden Yards and M & T Bank Stadium to increase programming in all areas of the event. While the festival celebrates the historic contributions of African Americans, visitors to the event will agree that regardless of ethnicity there is something for everyone to enjoy.


The festival hours are:


Friday, July 6  5 p.m.  10 p.m.

Saturday, July 7  12 p.m.  10 p.m.

Sunday, July 8  12 p.m.  9p.m.



Admission to the festival is free but the community is asked to help the Heritage Foundation Keep the Festival Alive by making a donation at the entrances.

The Heritage Festival offers a safe environment and is a family celebration of African American history, culture, art and education. In addition to offering a variety of foods, art displays, carnival rides and health screenings the festival is proud to feature a comprehensive eclectic range of music on two stages including: Reggae, Soul, Jazz, Rhythm and Blues, and Gospel featuring Patti Labelle, Musiq Soulchild, Temptations with Dennis Edwards and Ali Woodson, and Charlie Wilson.
